More Books and Boxes with Angela Johnson
Fri-Sat, April 9-10 | 9am-4pm
Members: $300 | Non-Members: $320
All levels welcome, no prior experience necessary.
Concept
Handmade artist books and decorative boxes provide endless possibilities for presenting photographs and mementos, and can be a work of art in and of themselves. Experiment and play as you learn a variety of structures in this two-day workshop, including Map and Turkish fold books, as well as hinged, lidded boxes.
Experience
Presentations provide inspiration, while demonstrations and guided instruction provide opportunities for hands-on practice. The first day focuses on making books and the second day on making a complete box.
Instructor
Angela Johnson is an artist and educator with a creative spirit. Her teaching career started as a 5th grade Language Arts teacher. No matter the classroom, her teaching philosophy remains the same – give students the tools to grow from learner to leader in both art and life. When not making work, teaching, or working with individuals, groups, and organizations as a creative coach, Angela can be found meditating, kayaking, or scuba diving. She earned her Masters in Art Education and MFA from UW-Madison.
Skill Level
All levels welcome, no prior experience necessary. For those who took Angela's 2026 workshop on books and boxes, this is a great way to add to your skillset and collection.
