Moving Metal with Heather Nuber

Concept

In this two-day workshop, learn various ways to move metal. Find exciting new forms in forged sheet and wire while using hammer, stakes, and anvils. Create movement, texture, and volume in copper and learn how to control and direct hammer blows.

Experience

Demonstrations, samples, and discussions help to see how these discoveries can be put into practice to create engaging jewelry and sculptural forms. Leave with a trove of samples, and at least one finished piece.

Instructor

As an interdisciplinary artist, Heather Nuber’s work focuses on the dynamics of personal relationships and social interactions through the exploration of form and material. Heather earned her BFA in Metalsmithing and Jewelry Design from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and MFA from Indiana University. In addition, she has studied at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, Penland School of Crafts, Peters Valley School of Craft, and Touchstone Center for Craft, and participated in several residencies, including Peninsula School of Art's. An avid instructor, Heather teaches workshops, semester-long courses, and multi-week intensives across the country.
