Concept

Join Heather for a cozy two-day workshop focused on slowing down and using your hands, needle, and thread to add beauty to life, textiles, and everyday objects. Discover the soothing and meditative act of stitching and drawing thread through fabric.

Experience

Through demonstrations and hands-on practice, learn embroidery, various mending techniques such as the traditions of boro and sashiko, as well as other approaches. As an extra bonus, bring an item for indigo dying, putting into practice newly learned shibori stitches. Leave this workshop with a small stack of slowly stitched and mended items, and a new relaxation practice that allows for creative outlet using basic and easy-to-find items.

Instructor

As an interdisciplinary artist, Heather Nuber’s work focuses on the dynamics of personal relationships and social interactions through the exploration of form and material. Heather earned her BFA in Metalsmithing and Jewelry Design from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and MFA from Indiana University. In addition, she has studied at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, Penland School of Crafts, Peters Valley School of Craft, and Touchstone Center for Craft, and participated in several residencies, including Peninsula School of Art's. An avid instructor, Heather teaches workshops, semester-long courses, and multi-week intensives across the country.
