Sports, Recreation, and Clay | Ages 7-9

Concept and Experience

In this workshop, young artists reference sports, recreation, and hobbies to explore the sculptural possibilities of clay. Pinch, coil, and slab construction are used to create a series of pieces, including medals, trophies, stadium-inspired bowls, fields and courts with athlete figurines, and more. Students decorate the surfaces of their pieces with texture tools and brightly colored underglazes.
